In his address to the General Debate of the UN General Assembly, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called for international cooperation in tackling the global climate crisis.
Underlining that Türkiye will host COP31 in Antalya on 9–20 November 2026, Erdoğan invited all countries to take concrete decisions in Antalya.
Highlighting the importance of the “just transition” principle, he noted that developing countries can only sustain economic growth while cutting carbon emissions if they have adequate climate finance and technology transfer.
Erdoğan added that Türkiye is leading global climate negotiations as COP31 host and aims for the conference to deliver binding, implementable decisions.
