Ahead of COP31, a two-day Plastic Waste Workshop was held in Istanbul on 31 August – 1 September 2026. The workshop addressed the fight against plastic pollution and the “Türkiye 2053 Plastics Vision”.

The workshop set out the goal of making Türkiye a “regional circular plastics hub” capable of transferring technology and expertise to Europe, the Balkans, the Middle East and Central Asia. A final Plastic Cycle Report and ministry-level policy reports are planned to be shared with the public as outputs of the workshop.
